  • Before you begin composing the text of your academic paper, it’s recommended to make a detailed research paper outline. If you follow a good plan during the writing process, your paper is likely to be well-structured and clearly written. If you try to compose your paper without creating a layout, it might miss some important details.

Guidelines on How to Write a Research Paper Outline

    1. Make an introduction outline.
The first chapter of your paper should start with presenting the topic of your work. Then, you should explain the importance of investigating it. Lastly, you should list the exact study questions that your paper is going to give answers to.

    2. Make a literature review outline.
The next chapter should provide your readers with the information about the books, past studies, and other sources that you read working on your study. It’s important to divide the sources into different groups depending on the schools of thought that they represent.

    3. Make a methodology outline.
This chapter should provide the descriptions of all the procedures that were conducted during your study. It’s important to make these descriptions very detailed and accurate so that any reader can replicate your actions if needed.

    4. Make a presentation of findings outline.
Here, the reader should learn about the results that you’ve achieved due to the chosen methodology. You should demonstrate the figures first. Then, it’s needed to interpret them and answer the questions stated in the introduction.

    5. Make a conclusion outline.
The last chapter of your paper should provide the summary of your points. Also, it should offer your readers one or several ways that they may continue the investigation you’ve started in.

Improving Your Outline for Research Paper

If you’ve made a layout for the first time, it might be weak. In order to get rid of mistakes and make it better, you should demonstrate it to your instructor. After a quick examination, they’ll indicate what you’ve done right and what is better to be changed. Correct your outline following your instructor’s advice and show it to them again. Repeat this until your advisor is satisfied with your layout.

Now, you have a better idea of how to craft an outline for your term paper. Remember, however, that you should take this step only after you’ve picked a decent topic and carried out a thorough study on it. If you organize your work in an improper way, it’ll take you much more time and effort to finish it. Moreover, you might fail to create a successful paper.
